Saadhu's Sanskrit t-shirts carry one verse each, set in Devanagari, with its source and an English meaning on every product page. They are cut oversized for daily wear, and we ship free across India.

What makes a Sanskrit shlok t-shirt worth wearing

Most Sanskrit tees sold online print a line and stop there. You get the script, but not where it comes from or what it says. We think the meaning is the point. A verse you understand stays with you through the day; a verse you can't read is just a pattern.

So every Saadhu tee comes with three things: the verse in Devanagari, its transliteration so you can say it, and a plain-English translation with the text it is taken from. When a friend asks what your shirt says, you will have a real answer.

Shlok, mantra or mahavakya?

People search for "Sanskrit shlok t-shirts", and we use the word too, but not every line is a shlok. Strictly, a shloka (श्लोक) is a verse in the anushtubh metre of four quarters, eight syllables each, the metre of most of the Bhagavad Gita. Short sayings such as Aham Brahmasmi are mahavakyas, the "great sayings" of the Upanishads, while lines like Om Namah Shivaya are mantras. Each product page tells you which one you are wearing.

How we choose and check every verse

  • Source first. Every verse is traced to its text, with chapter and verse where the text has them.
  • Correct script. The Devanagari is typeset in a proper Sanskrit typeface, never generated by AI, so conjunct letters and vowel marks are right.
  • Honest translation. We translate for clarity, and note when a line is read differently by different schools.
  • No promises of luck. A verse on a shirt is a reminder, not a charm. We never claim it brings wealth, healing or protection.

Fit, fabric and print

Our tees are unisex and cut oversized, with dropped shoulders and a relaxed body. The first design, Anitya, is printed on a charcoal acid-washed tee, so every piece has its own faded texture. Fabric weight, composition, care instructions and a full size chart sit on each product page. If the size is wrong, you get one free size exchange within 7 days of delivery.

Choosing a verse

Pick a line you want to be reminded of. Anitya (अनित्य) is about impermanence: whatever is troubling you today will pass. New verses are added to this collection as they are ready, each with its own meaning page.

Questions people ask

Is it respectful to wear Sanskrit verses? We think so, when they are accurate and treated with care. We avoid deity imagery in casual placements and print only verses whose meaning suits everyday wear.
